SAP Expands Business AI And Cloud Solutions In APJ Region

SAP has announced new customers and cloud-based projects across the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region following the release of its global earnings on January 28. The company highlighted the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence in businesses, helping organizations improve efficiency and innovation.

Paul Marriott, President of SAP APJ, stated that 2024 was the year AI became a reality for customers in the region and that this trend will continue in 2025. He noted that SAP aims to integrate 400 AI-driven features, which could boost productivity by up to 30% for key roles in its applications. He emphasized that the strong adoption of Business AI demonstrates its value to organizations today.

Several major companies in the region have chosen SAP solutions to modernize their business operations. NTT DATA Inc., a global leader in IT services, adopted RISE with SAP, along with SAP Business AI, SAP Business Technology Platform, and SAP Signavio. This move will replace its older ERP systems with a unified platform, streamlining operations and boosting efficiency. In India, Premium Transmission Limited, an automotive parts manufacturer, opted for GROW with SAP and SAP Business AI. Ashok Leyland, one of India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, implemented SAP Business AI, SAP Datasphere, and SAP Analytics Cloud as part of its digital transformation. ITC Limited, a diversified Indian conglomerate, enhanced SAP S/4HANA with AI-powered SAP solutions, including SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP SuccessFactors. In Australia, SA Power Networks selected RISE with SAP and SAP Business AI to improve its business processes.

The last quarter of 2024 saw significant progress in cloud adoption across the region, with multiple businesses going live on SAP platforms. Coles, a major Australian retailer with over 120,000 employees, successfully deployed RISE with SAP, setting the stage for its digital transformation in 2025. Trent Limited, a leading Indian retail business, migrated to SAP RISE, leveraging its advanced analytics and automation to enhance operations. Other businesses that embraced SAP solutions include Hyundai Glovis, Roy Hill, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Sterlite Power Transmission, NTPC Limited, Ventia, and Daewoong Pharmaceuticals Co. In Japan, Tosoh Corporation, and in South Korea, the social enterprise Underdogs adopted SAP S/4HANA Cloud to enhance business efficiency.

SAP also saw strong demand for its sustainability-focused solutions. In India, Vedanta Limited chose SAP Sustainability Footprint Management and SAP Business Technology Platform to support its environmental initiatives. In Thailand, Charoen Pokphand Foods Ltd (CPF) implemented SAP sustainability solutions in October 2024. The company now uses SAP Environment Management, SAP Sustainability Footprint Management, SAP Sustainability Control Tower, and SAP Analytics Cloud to track materials, measure carbon emissions, and ensure compliance with global sustainability standards.

Looking ahead, Marriott emphasized SAP’s commitment to innovation, stating that from AI to cloud to sustainability, businesses across Asia Pacific continue to trust SAP to create real value. He added that in 2025, SAP will remain focused on an AI-first approach to drive resilience, growth, and efficiency for its customers.
