Oracle and Microsoft have announced the launch of Oracle US Gov West (Phoenix) and Azure US Gov Arizona (Phoenix) regions, enhancing multi-cloud solutions for government agencies. This expansion provides high-performance, secure, cost-effective options for mission-critical workloads while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure integrates Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) FastConnect and Microsoft ExpressRoute, delivering less than two milliseconds of round-trip latency. This enables seamless real-time connections between Azure-based applications and Oracle databases with no additional data transfer costs, improving operational efficiency.
“Our collaboration with Oracle unlocks new possibilities for government agencies by integrating the best of Microsoft and Oracle Cloud technologies. This partnership empowers our joint customers to innovate faster, using advanced analytics, AI, Security, and App services in the cloud,” said Brett Tanzer, Vice President, Azure Solutions and Ecosystem, Microsoft.
Key Benefits for Government Agencies
Kim Lynch, Executive Vice President, Government, Intelligence, and Defense at Oracle, emphasized the importance of multi-cloud flexibility, “Government agencies shouldn’t be stuck with a single cloud provider. The support for the interconnect in these government regions provides a powerful new option for our mutual customers.”
Future of Government Cloud Operations
Oracle Government Cloud currently supports over 1,000 U.S. federal, state, and local agencies, including the Department of Defense. With 99.995% uptime SLAs and FedRAMP High and DoD Impact Level 5 compliance, Oracle Exadata Database Service offers up to 50x faster performance for ERP workloads compared to traditional on-premises systems.
By eliminating intercloud data transfer fees, the Oracle-Microsoft partnership significantly reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) for agencies running ERP workloads. Additionally, flexible consumption-based pricing allows agencies to scale resources on demand, optimizing budgets for critical public sector services.
With this expansion, Oracle and Microsoft reaffirm their commitment to providing government agencies with the tools they need to enhance efficiency, security, and innovation in the cloud era.
