Infosys and British oil and gas major BP has joined hands to co-develop and pilot an energy-as-a-service (EaaS) solution to optimise utilisation of power and aid businesses meet their goals of reducing emissions.
The solution, which will be piloted at Infosys’ Pune campus, will collect data from multiple energy assets and use artificial intelligence to optimise the supply and demand for power, heating, cooling and EV charging
“Our collaboration with bp further strengthens our long-standing commitment towards sustainability and supports our ambitious ESG goals. We will now bring together the best of digital technologies – advanced AI, connected digital systems, experience design, analytics – and decarbonization to create an integrated energy and mobility offering,” stated Pravin Rao, COO at Infosys.
Infosys will integrate solar energy production in its campus’ energy system which the two firms said will be monitored and optimised by their co-developed digital platform. This energy will have a capability to be stored or used for the building’s power supply, heating, cooling and EV charging.
They said the pilot will imitate the environment of a small city, where energy is generated, stored and consumed at multiple points.
“Integrating advances in energy, mobility and digital technologies and services has huge potential to accelerate the progress towards a more sustainable and resilient future. By bringing together our complementary capabilities, products, and services from bp’s different joint ventures in India, bp and Infosys can help each other – and our customers – achieve energy and sustainability goals faster,” stated Sashi Mukundan, President at bp India and Senior Vice President, bp Group.
