We have reached an era of global capitalism, a time where every country's innovation capacity is showcased in full prowess. In a recent speech at the US Congress, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi laid down his agenda of creating a future-ready Indiaby 2022. His ambitions for the country included skill development of millions of youth, a goal of 100 smart cities along with a broad band connection for a billion people with the ultimate aim of connecting the villages to the digital world. In the pursuit to become a digitally enabled country, India can take inspiration from use-case scenarios from across the world. A lot can be learnt from stellar smart city examples like Singapore and Barcelona. Singapore is on the way to building a smart nation by harnessing technology to the fullest with the aim of improving the lives of citizens, creating more opportunities and building stronger communities. Barcelona on the other hand, has deployed innovative solutions to manage the services and resources to improve the lives of the citizen's by providing them a digitally connected ecosystem. Taking from these examples, a conducive environment that attracts industries and talents to join the country can bolster the move towards becoming a Smart Nation. While building a robust ecosystem for a digitally enabled future, it is important to focus both on the physical and the virtual infrastructure that can support and sustain the growth of the country. The recent examples of the Chennai floods and the flyover collapse in Kolkata only go on to show how rapid development without much thought to durability and sustenance can lead to chaos and mayhem. The current government is vehemently pushing the Digital India initiative with strong efforts and an ambitious vision towards nation building. The digital revolution in the country has to be actively supported by businesses and citizens in equal participation. The digital revolution in the country is on its way to open a plethora of job opportunities in the country hence boosting the economy. It is a notable fact thathigh impact IT firms bring credible growth to the economy. One of the key drivers of growth for a digitally connected future is IoT.
