Workday Launches New AI Management System And AI Agents

Wednesday, February 12, 2025

Silicon Valley-based Workday has introduced a new system to help businesses manage all their AI agents in one place. The company also launched new AI agents designed for specific roles.

The Workday Agent System of Record lets companies track AI agents, whether they are from Workday or other providers. Businesses can see what each agent is doing, control access, and monitor costs. They can also turn agents or specific tasks on and off as needed.

Workday CEO Carl Eschenbach said AI agents are becoming a key part of company workflows and should be managed like human employees. "The workforce is expanding. It’s no longer just human workers, it is now digital workers," he said.

Many companies are hesitant to adopt AI due to concerns about security and control. Workday believes its new system can help reduce these worries.

In addition, Workday introduced new AI agents focused on payroll, contracts, and financial auditing. Unlike traditional AI agents that complete single tasks, Workday’s agents are designed to perform broader roles and collaborate with human employees.

Eschenbach believes role-based AI agents will be more powerful in the long run. "The true power of agents is when they become role-based, they will develop multiple skills over time," he said.

Workday will not charge companies for using the AI agent management platform but will continue charging for its AI agents.
